KR Audio Antares VA320: Hybrid Class A Amplifier
KR Audio Antares VA320: The Art of Hybrid Class A Amplification
The KR Audio Antares VA320 is a high-end integrated amplifier manufactured in the Czech Republic, combining European craftsmanship with a substantial build weighing approximately 38 kg. Designed for audiophiles who appreciate the character of vacuum tube amplification, it offers a distinctive approach to delivering musical performance.
Hybrid Class A Design
At the heart of the Antares VA320 is a hybrid Class A circuit that combines a MOSFET input stage with vacuum tube output. This design aims to bring together the bass control and clarity associated with transistor technology and the smooth, fluid presentation often appreciated in tube-based systems.
With a rated tube output of 20 watts, the amplifier is designed for listeners who value musical refinement and careful system matching.
Flexible Speaker Matching
The Antares VA320 provides selectable 4, 6, and 8-ohm output taps, allowing users to match the amplifier to compatible loudspeakers according to their impedance requirements.
For optimal results, speaker sensitivity and impedance characteristics should be considered together. The presenter recommends speakers with a sensitivity of at least 88 dB and advises caution when pairing the amplifier with demanding, large sub-bass drivers.
Building a Balanced High-End System
Choosing the right amplifier is about more than power alone. Speaker compatibility, room size, and listening preferences all contribute to system performance. The KR Audio Antares VA320 offers a distinctive hybrid design for enthusiasts seeking the character of tube amplification in a carefully matched high-end system.
